I always need some type of background noise whether I’m working, surfing the web, or cleaning. Music is my 1^st choice but I also like flipping on QVC. Have y’all ever seen Isaac Mizrahi on QVC? He CRACKS ME UP!!!! I don’t really like his stuff but I LOVE him!

When I’m scared or see a scary movie…..if it’s REALLLLYYYY scary my eyes will tear up. I have no idea why. I’m not crying it’s just an instant reaction.

I love to stretch!

A baked Sweet potato with cinnamon is a dessert to me. I remember when it used to be cookies or cake. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy a little sinful treat every now and then but not often.

I’m obsessed with chap stick. I bet I’ve already told you this. I can never have enough of it!

Kent can tell you all kinds of funny/creepy stories about my sleep talking. Yes I talk and sometimes laugh in my sleep. My mind never stops!

I would love to live in Colorado. I’ve never been there but I am certain I would be in heaven there. Kent wants to live in California so were are in a bit of a predicament

Sometimes it takes me 3-4 trips up and down the stairs before I remember why I went downstairs in the 1^st place.

I’m worried about my feet growing when I have babies. I already wear a size 11. Not much room to grow from there before I will officially be in clown shoes.

I say “Ninja you are soooo stinking cute!” at least 100 times a day. I’m sorry but he is. Ninja is our bunny just in case you’re confused.

My feet are always cold.

For about a week every month my nose goes into over drive. I’m like a dog. I can smell anything and everything. Kent and I will sometimes play the identify this smell game. It cracks him up! It’s kind of like a super human power that comes to visit every month.

Disclaimer: Let me start this off by saying this is my blog and I choose to share what I want. The purpose of this blog is not to hurt or upset anyone! If you know me personally you know hurting someone is the last thing I would want to do. I hope to inspire and maybe make someone laugh every now and then!

I recently deleted a post as it caused a few issues in my personal life. Do you remember my post on guilt? Yep that’s the one I decided to delete. The post was read with malice and not an open mind. I wanted to share something I struggle with and something that I am almost certain others struggle with as well. While y’all were sweet and left wonderful engaging comments (which I love) the post was used against me in an discussion with someone in my personal life.

This is my little place to share. I don’t journal, I blog and I hope to continue to share in a fashion that I enjoy. If you begin to read a post that becomes hurtful to you I ask that you reread with an open and understanding mind. This is a place of love, inspiration, and yes lots of randomness!

Ok now that that’s out of the way let’s get on with today’s post!

A bit harsh yes, but true! Do you have people like this in your life? I bet we all do.

This was my moto for 2011 and will continue with me throughout my life. Out with the bad, in with the good in. I can’t say that without thinking about that scene from Dum and Dumber…..come on you know which scene I’m talking about!

Last year has been all about surrounding myself with positive people and energy and separating myself from those who do not harbor the same lifestyle that I want for myself and future family. Do I sound like tree hugging hippie? I’m sure I do but you know what……. it’s working!

2011 was amazing and I feel extremely blessed with all the wonderful gifts and life lessons I was given last year. I have to think that creating this positive bubble has something to do with it!

I lost weight and still am!!! 60 down pounds so far! (THIS makes me happy)

I’m working out and making healthier choices. (THIS makes me happy)

I’m happy! I mean truly and honestly happy! I’m a happy person in general but I’m not only HAPPY but happy with my life. Do you get what I’m saying? You know that saying “Life is good”? I say that to myself alllll the time! (THIS of course……makes me happy)

Kent and I are falling more and more in love as the days go on. Yes this sounds cheesy but it’s true. I never thought I could love him more than I did on our wedding day but you know what, I do! We are not perfect. We fight at times but we are working towards growing and building our life together as husband and wife. He is an amazing man and I feel so blessed to be able to call him my husband. Even when we argue I try to take a step back and think about all the awesome things I love about him and I feel blessed. (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve said good bye to the users in my life. You know, the people that take, take, take weather they are taking your time, materiel things, or striping away at your happiness. Saying goodbye to these people was not easy and still something I struggle with but when I look at my life as a whole I am happier without them. (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve grown positive friendship with loving, good people. People that have kind hearts and good intentions. People that are positive thinkers like myself. (THIS makes me happy)

My photography business is growing leaps and bounds! (THIS makes me happy)

I’m opening my eyes to life lessons that I am being shown on a daily biases and allowing myself to grow from them! There is always a lesson to be learned! (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve said bye-bye to DRAMA….as much as I can. I hate drama especially petty drama. It’s hard to fully say good bye to it as it seems to creep in every now and then but I’m handling it differently when it does. (THIS makes me happy)

This purpose of this post is to not make you sick at your stomach with all my loving life positive talk. Believe me there are people out there that get annoyed by this. The purpose is to motivate YOU to cultivate a good life. A life that you want for yourself and your family, whatever life that may be.

My life is far from perfect. I still struggle. Uh did you read my post on guilt? Proof of my struggles right there! BUT I’m happy and I’m able to find joy and be thankful. I get lost in my gratitude thinking about all the things I’m grateful for in my life. I’m happy not just on the outside but the inside as well.

I had to take a little mini blog break during the fall. I was a busy gal capturing photos for my clients but my work schedule has return to normal and I can now breath and rejoin the world!

Y’all know I’m a obsessive list maker, right?
Well I have tons of stuff to share (have the list to show it) and will be getting back to a regular blog schedule on Monday!

A Date Under the Stars

Okay not under the starts but more next to them and uhhhh maybe I should say Christmas lights instead of stars but you get the jist.

I’ve been short on time lately. In fact I’m up at typing this at 4am on a Sunday morning and will soon be starting my workday. I’m a morning person though so it’s allllll good!

Work has been ca-ca-crazy but crazy good, not crazy bad. I LOVE it but it sure is time consuming during the high seasons (spring and fall).

Since I pretty much live in my office unless I’m out shooting or at the gym hubby time has become nonexistent.

Sooooo we planned a PJ date night! He cooked the meal and I set the mood!

I had some Christmas lights up from a photo shoot I did a few weeks back. I thought they were the perfect backdrop for our little impromptu PJ date night.

We had the BEST time! After dinner we moved the “table” out of the way and just cuddled, chit-chatted, and laughed for hours. No need to spend a fortune to create a romantic experience. We didn’t spend a dime and we both had a blast just enjoying each other’s company….and the pretty starts….uh I mean Christmas lights.

Halloween Tradition

Well not really sure if we can call it a tradition BUT it’s something we’ve done for two years in a row! It’s getting close to becoming a tradition I guess.

For the last two years my neighbor and close friend (I know, how lucky am I) sit in my front yard and pass out candy together. We chat, laugh, and oh and aw over all the little cuties. Although this year we had lots of older kids (teenagers) sans costumes.

Kent I laid down a ground rule for our future children. We’re cool with them trick-or-treating as long as they want but they must ALWAYS wear a costume or we won’t let them go. It sounds mean but I think that’s the price you pay as a trick or treater. You get free candy and in return the passer-outer (do you like that) gets to see you dressed up! It’s only fair!

Ninja even got in on the action. He was a bubble bee and a mighty cute one at that!

Oh Mrs. Marsh May (that’s my nick name for her). She calls me Kendra Lou.
I just love this girl to pieces! She is such a special friend. I don’t think I could have picked a better neighbor myself. I know I’ve said that a million times but it’s true!

It was fun dressing up! We felt a little like superstars. We had our pictures taken with random strangers and the kids excited to see the costumes. I guess my costume was a good choice because the elementary kids are learning about Cat and the Hat in school right now. They were all excited to tell me about it.

I think I’m going to be a Disney princess next year!

Ps…..The Cat and the Hat costume was browed from Mrs. Marsha May. It was her Halloween costume when she was in the 7th grade! Isn’t that neat! I wish I would have hung onto some of my old costumes.

Back from Arkansas

I’m bAAAAAck!
Y’all let me tell you something, the Ozark Mountains are stunning this time of year. No wonder I had such a hard time finding a cute cabin for us to stay in. We ended up staying in Hot Springs and took a day trip to the Ozarks. I am still on could nine thinking about all the beautiful things I saw……bold rich fall colors (the prettiest I’ve ever seen), natural waterfalls, maintains, old rustic bridges, vacant shacks…..the list just goes on and on. I was wishing my niece was with me. We would’ve had tons of backdrop options for her senior pictures. Oh my gosh to be a photographer in Arkansas this time of yea; I can’t even imagine!

I now have trillions of pictures of fall scenery that I have no idea what I’m going to do with.

I was thinking about maybe making a fall picture calendar or may using the images on notes cards.
I have no idea! I know I’m going to frame a few and hang them in our living room…someday! I’ve been saying I’m going to do gallery way for the longest!

Kent and I pulled out the tripod and took our Christmas card photos. This is our second year doing this as Kent refuses to let me hire a photographer. Let me tell ya it’s not easy! We were able to get a few cutes ones. I will say we did a better job using the tripod this year. Last year was even more of a mess! I think we got maybe 2 good ones last year but we have 6 or so keepers. I’m cool with that!

I was in need of a new headshot so my sweet hubby took over the camera for a bit. I feel pretty lucky that Kent also knows his way around a camera! I told him what type of pose and shot I was looking for and he took care of the rest.

On a side note I HATE being on the other side of the camera.

I now want some type of chemical peel.

Annnnddd I have one eye that’s bigger than the other when I smile….in some shots (you can see what I’m talking about in the pic on the right). What in the world is up with that? I think that’s a new thing.

Once I have a chance to work through more of our photos I’m going to share more about our trip to fall heaven! We already talking about going back next year!

Taking Cover – Lost CF Card Part: 1

I found my missing CF card! I lost hope then BAM out of the blue it appeared. Well it was actually under a stack of papers on my desk. I cleaned my office last week and found it…..WOOOO HOOO!

As soon as I found it in I popped it the computer to see what was on the card and came across some funny pictures I totally forgot about!

Sooooo this leads me to our 3 part series….The Lost CF Card Pictures! Sounds super intriguing huh?

Part 1: Taking Cover …….

We live in Texas.

Taking cover during tornado season is just part of our lives!
Some if us (KENT) are more fearful of tornadoes than others. Kent worries enough for the both of us when it comes to storms! He doesn’t even want me parking the car anywhere near our fence in fear that our fence will blow over and hit our car during a rain storm.

Yes I said rain storm. He’s not only concerned about tornadoes. It’s pretty much all storms in general.

I take more of a lackadaisy approach to the whole thing. Why worry? I’ll let my sweet hubby take care of that!

So here we are, taking cover again.
Kent said this was going to be it!
This ONE was for real.

I’m not going to lie I kind of fell for it this time. I even grabbed my must have itmes.

Our “safe place” is in our1/2 bathroom. It’s teeny tiny and has VERY bad lighting so let me apologize for that in advance!

Bringing your husband when you take cover is very important!
Kent thought the rain boots were a joke. I told him he would be jealous if we had a flood and my feet were nice and dry.

My purse was full of snacks and makeup!

Ninja always takes cover with us! I usually just hold him but since this was for REALLLL I thought I should bring his little travel cage and some food. Kent said Ninja could just eat some of our snacks if need be BUT bunnies have very sensitive systems so I chose to pack a bag of bunny food and hay!

Abby took cover as well. Can you tell who she’s taking cover behind? If you’ve been following along for awhile I’m sure you can take a good guess!

Gussied up Notebook and Calendar

I picked up these notebooks from Goodwill for $.25 cents a pop and the mini calendar from Hobby Lobby for $1.00.

Yes I prefer to keep up with important dates the old fashion way……pen and paper!

Since I’ll be using these items in for work I wanted them to match my branding so I gave them a little love using things I already had on hand.

I picked out coordinating scrapbook paper pulled out the trusty Mod Podge and went to town!

Tip: When I’m using Mod Podge I always get out my rolling pin. In fact I use my rolling pin (which I bought at Goodwill by the way) more for crafting than baking. Use the rolling pin to roll out any air bubbles that may be trapped under the paper. This will help with wrinkling! They make a mini version of this just for scrapbooking but why buy that when I already have this honker!

And there ya have it! Simple, easy, and cute!

I added a couple die cut Ks….well because my name is Kendra and my business is Kendra Pryor Photography. Makes sense right?

This would make a cute gift as well! You could include a matching pen and a pack highlighters!

When Beauty Stops you in your Tracks

I took this during a walk in the countryside with my mom and my hubby (Kent) last weekend. This sight made my stop in my tracks…..which happens often especially when I have my camera in hand. My walking buddies continued their walk while I got lost in my own little world.

A world that I love.

A world that calms me.

A world that makes me forget about all the craziness going on in my life.

A world that’s just me, my camera, and beauty.

Ninja the Bunny is a Model

I hosted Halloween mini sessions over the weekend and just I couldn’t help myself….

I had to snap a few pictures of little Ninja before I cleaned everything up.

He was soooo stinking good!

He has this whole modeling thing down! I always have a camera jammed in his face which I guess is paying off because he just sat there and let me snap away. I even put him in his Halloween costume for a few pics.

YES, I got him a Halloween costume! You can laugh all you want but wait until you see how cute he looks, then you’ll want to apologize!

Poor thing probably hates when I have mini sessions at the house because he knows what’s coming next!

Staph is Scary

Last Wednesday Kent and I were heading home from a dinner at a friends house. Our bellies were full and were happy after having a fun night with our buddies.

I got a call from my mom on the way home.

She said that my brother was in the hospital…
had to have emergency surgery…
and the doctors did not think outcome was going to be good.

He was being tough and thought he could fight whatever it was that was making him so sick all on his own…..WRONG!

Me, my brother, my niece, my mom, my brother’s girl friend

His kidneys shut down, his blood pressure was dangerously low, and his body had gone into septic shock.

If he pulled through they thought he have to be on dialysis….

You see my brother is a carefree guy. I could tell you “Crazy Brandon Stories” for hours on end.

I refer to him as cat with 9 lives. Although I think he’s surpassed his extra lives by far.

Due to his carefree mentality he’s been in the hospital, ICU in fact several times.

But this time was different…….

I was scared. It was hard seeing my big strong brother so sick.

He had fallen victim to staph infection, a very, very nasty one at that.

The infection started in is leg.

During his surgery they removed a large amount of flesh and muscle.

The incision is still open, my bro is still in the hospital but out of the ICU, his body is still fighting off the infection.

His doctor told me if he waited any longer to go to the E.R he would of have died. He said he was shocked that he pulled through and only with a few minor issues.

He leg will never look the same.
He will need some rehabilitation.
But he’s able to walk and did not end up needed dialysis.

My bro sure gave us a good scare.

This next picture is really gross so I’m going to leave it small so you don’t get too grossed out…..cause I’m nice like that….and your welcome!

The doctors left his incision open.

They’re still trying to decide how they want to close it up as it’s fairly wide and long.

They have him attached to a wound vac which pretty much suctions out all the grossness from his incision 24/7.

My brother has to carry it around wherever he goes. Not that he’s going far but still….
Isn’t it pretty? BLAH!

He gets better every day!

He’s coloring is starting to return to his skin and he’s getting his sense of humor back!

Love him to pieces.

He will always be my crazy brother that’s cheated death on more than one occasion.

Thrifty Treasures

Y’all know I love to get my thrift on! I pass right by Goodwill on my way to the gym so if I have time I pop in to see what I can find. Some days are great others not so much but that’s just nature of the beast!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Thrifty Treasures post. I’ve still been thrifting right along but haven’t been as good at stopping to take pictures of my finds. Most of my recent thrift store purchases have been props that I use in my photo shoots.

Our Cute Little Visitors from China

Kent’s sister and her munchkins are visiting all the way from Beijing. Unfortunately we don’t get to see the munchkins very often but when they are in
town we’re stuck to them like glue!

Baby Thomas is the new addition to the family. Let me tell ya he is the calmest baby I’ve ever come across. If I could have a little one as laid back as him I just might think about having one sooner than planned. I call him the pot head baby! Yes I did just say that! He's’ soooo chill!

The other day there was a fire in the kitchen. That’s another story for another day. It was actually pretty scary! Anyhoo the smoke alarm was going off, the kitchen was filled with smoke, people were yelling and good ole Thomas was just hanging out…..not a care in the world. I scooped him up just in case we needed to make a run for it and he laughed…..seeeee total pot head baby! I want one like him!

He thinks I’m hilarious which I of course love! All I have to do is act like a fool and he just cracks up.

Another reason why I need a baby just like him…proof that I am funny! ;o)
Well at least to a 4 month old.

This is Katelyn….
you may remember her from her last visit only she looked like this (see pictures below)most of the time. She was a hoot! No matter where she was or what she was doing she was crying! I could see how some people would find it annoying but it was actually kind of funny.

Well a year has come and gone and Miss Thaaannng is all grown up! She’s still got a little sass to her but she is all smiles and giggles.

Not only is she my niece she’s also my Mandarin teacher. They mainly speak Mandarin back home so when we’re playing she bust out Mandarin when she's talking to me. I’m always having to ask what she’s saying.

I spent a year in China and all I remember is how to ask for my bill. I’ve spent a week with this little cutie and I can now…..

What’s in my Purse the Good the Bad and the Ugly

My purse has been looking pretty bad for a few months now. I think the junk rotates it’s self in and out. Every time I look for something I have no idea what I’m going to pull out. I began to feel somewhat like Mary Poppins…….only a less organized, cluttered version. Instead of finding a shiny new coat rack in my bag I found dirty gym socks!

Soooooo I thought it was high time to clean my black hole of a bag out! Naturally I video taped for you to see!

So now that I’ve spilled the beans it’s your turn. I know I can’t be the only one with random things in my purse. What are a few odd things you carry/find in your bag?

How I Like to Burn Calories

On Labor Day I gathered with my Danceaton buddies for 2 hours of nothing but jam packed dancing! I’ve posted about my love for Danceaton a few times but let me just say it again…..

I LOVE Danceaton! The class, the people, the music, how I feel during and after, the changes I’m seeing in my body, the friends I’ve made……I could go on and on! Dancing has always been a passion of mine. I used to eat, breath, and sleep dance when I was younger. I stopped dancing in my early twenties and have missed it every since I’ve stopped! Through Danceaton I’ve been able to tap back into that little dancer and shake my groove thing again!

There were over 200 people in attendance! Not everyone stuck around for the group picture but it was definitely a packed house!

Pre Marathon….you know, before I was a sweaty mess!

Waiting for the marathon to start! This picture just makes me smile! I’ve met so many awesome people through Danceaton. We’re just one big dance loving family! Not only do we have a blast during class we hangout outside of class as well. It’s really like nothing I’ve ever experienced from a workout class before.

Okay I lied……maybe just a few words but I promise to keep it short!
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a post like this so I thought I would catch you some on some of my recent photo shoots.

Work has been going great, actually it’s been amazing! I’m closing in on my 2nd year as a photographer and I’m smitten with my job! I’ve grown, learned, laughed, and yes even cried a little. Being a photographer is not all grins and giggles but there is definitely a of lot joy in this profession! For the 1st time in a long time I feel like I’m doing exactly what I should be doing.

Oh man it’s been awhile since I’ve done a phone pic post and boy can I tell. I just moved 331 pictures from my phone to my computer……whew! I’ve mainly been using my camera on my phone these days. My Cannon is just too big to lug around am I’m always worried about something happening to it. I upgraded to the Cannon 5D Mark 11 a few months ago and I still need to get it insured. If anything happened to that bay boy I would be in a pickle!

Get ready for some randomness…..because that’s what I do best!

Ninja’s New Friend

Ninja has a new friend! I thought he could use a little buddy so I brought a little stuffed animal home for him. He LOVES it! He cuddles with it and give it kisses; it’s too cute!

The other day I decided to let him play him with his new toy inside his house. Well when I walked by I saw Ninja doing some very nasty things to that poor lion. I think Ninja thought it was time to take their relationship to a next level. Let me just say the lion and Ninja will no longer be left alone.

Not only did Ninja get a new friend he also gained a cousin!

Kent and I gave my niece Benji as a birthday gift over the weekend.
She loves Ninja so I thought she would enjoy a bunny of her own. Yes I okayed it with my bro and sister-in-law 1st! I wish I would have taken a video of her opening her gift…..she was shocked!

Root Beer Sample Pack–The Gift for the Guy that’s Hard to Buy For

Of all the people in my life Kent (my husband) is the hardest person to buy for. He doesn't get excited easily and doesn’t have a love for materialistic things like I do. Yes I’ll go ahead and say it….I love THINGS!

Cute things, sparkly things, colorful things. I’m easy to buy for but Kent is soooo not!

This year I had the perfect gift in mind!!!!!

A root beer sample pack!

Kent loves root beer almost as much as he loves our little Chihuahua Abby. As some of you long time followers know Abby is his princess! I searched high and low hunting down all kinds of bottled root beer. If you decide to do this let me save you a little time. Central Market and Whole Foods had the best selection of bottled root beer that you can buy per bottle. I had no idea there were so many different brands of root beer.

This hardest part of this project was hunting down the root beer. After that I just threw everything together and walla! The container is just a wine bottle holder I picked up for free at Central Market.

Oh and on a side note……..I got carded when I bought the root!!!! She was confused as to why I was confused and I was confused but we got it all worked out…..hehehehe. Made me chuckle a little. Yes I chuckle!

I also picked up a glass mug and a pint of his favorite vanilla ice cream so he could make root beer floats which are also very close to his heart.

This gift was a success!

He even said it’s one of the best gifts I ever given him and we’ve been together for 10 years so that’s a lot of gifts!

Just a Little Reminder to……

Hope everyone is doing well! I miss y’all! I miss my normal blogging schedule too (yes I schedule time for blogging). This is my last week of vacation then it’s back to work which means no more gallivanting around, which means I’ll be home a lot more than I’ve been, which means I’ll be back to my normal blogging schedule!

It’s been a fun summer but I’m always happy to get back on a schedule!
I’m weird like that.

Enjoying Summer

I’m loving summer and enjoying a bit of free time! I took July off (kind of, I’m still working but scheduled a lighter load in July). Summers in Texas are out of control and it’s just too hot for outdoor shoots.

Things pick back up in August so I’m trying to soak in all the summer fun I can!

I thought I would fill ya in on what I’ve been up to this month

I’ve been working out A LOT! I’m actually a little obsessed with my workout class. I’m starting to tone up and I’ve lost weight. I’m the smallest I’ve been in years. Now when I say “smallest” don’t get me wrong, I still have a LONG way to go but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen my current weight on the scale. NO I’m not going to tell you how much I weigh I’ll tell ya when I get skinny though.

Kent and I did a Harry Potter marathon!
We’re all caught up and ready to watch the last movie in the series!

I’m not sure what happens to me but when summer rolls around I want to put some type of fruit in whatever I’m drinking. If you’ve never put an orange in your ice tea give it a go…..it’s sooo good! “What does this have to do with your summer activities?” you ask. Nothing really but as you know I’m obsessed with taking pictures of drinks (yes I know I’m odd) and well this is what I’ve been drinking this summer so I guess it kind of fits the theme of this post.

I’ve been cleaning and sprucing up the house a bit. Things with work were crazy busy during the spring and I fell behind on all my house work. I’m trying to get caught up so the house will be in tip top shape when things with work pick back up next month.

I’ve been taking advantage of our neighbor pool. We’ve lived in our home for 5 years and I’ve NEVER used the pool. I avoid swimsuits like the plague. If you remember I’m trying to do things that take me out of my comfort zone and getting in a swimsuit is one of those things that make my knees knock. Not sure that I’ll ever be comfortable in a swimsuit but I’m having a great time visiting with my gal pals and relaxing at the pool…...and it’s FREE entertainment which is always a positive in my book!

I’ve been spending a lot of time chit-chatting and catching up with friends at Starbucks. My drink of choice: grande soy ice coffee, 1 pump of sugar free caramel, and 2 splendas…..yum-yum! As a photographer my busy times are during the spring and fall seasons. During the week I’m usually tucked away in my office editing, catching up on e-mails, or meeting with clients. My weekends are usually filled with shoots so things that aren’t work related tend to get a little neglected. Luckily I have an awesome group of friends and family that are supportive and understanding of this! I’m enjoying catching up with everyone while I have some downtime.

Kent and I have been enjoying goodies from our garden! He made a big batch of pesto over the weekend and we will soon be knee deep in cantaloupe. Can’t wait to cut into our 1st home grown cantaloupe. So far we’ve enjoyed okra, tomatoes, lettuce, and several different herbs from our garden. We have green beans and peppers that are starting to come in! I can’t take any credit for it though. Kent works hard to make sure all our little goodies are watered and taken care of.

So there ya have it! My month in a nutshell! I’ve titled July my “Catch Up” month because giving things a title is FUN! I’m catching up on a few behind the scenes things with work, catching up on a few books I’ve been reading, catching up on e-mails, catching up with family and friends, catching up on my housework…see the theme?

Random Facts About Moi

I use conditioner as shaving gel. Strange, yes but I promise it will make your legs sooooo smooth and it’s cheaper than buying shaving gel! I get a big bottle of whatever is on sale. It last forever and makes my legs silky smooth!

When I was younger I wanted to be many things:
a marine biologist and perform with Shamu at Sea World,
a travel show host, and a backup dancer.

In my early 20’s I was hired to teach ballroom dancing. I cried when my boss told me I had the job……right there in front of him I started crying like a little baby! When I was younger dancing was my life and he had just made one of my dreams come true. I was an orthodontic assistant by day and an aspiring ball room instructor by night. I had to go through several weeks of training before I could start teaching. I went to my day job at 7am and didn’t get home until 10:30 from practice. In true “Kendra fashion” I didn’t stick with it. I was tried from the long days and spent a ton on gas getting where I needed to be. To this day I still regret that I didn’t follow through with it.

I’m a planner to my demise. Sometimes my OCD planning skills are great other times they’re just plain annoying. Anytime I’m in motion I have a plan for where I’m going and what my next move is. I’m constantly making list in my head.

Smacking and poor manners are my pet peeves but I guess smacking falls under poor manners.

If I want a little treat I stop by QT for a diet Pepsi with a splash of regular Pepsi. Just adding a tiny bit of regular Pepsi takes that diet drink edge off without adding all the all the extra calories of a regular soda.

When I was living in China I slipped and fell in a puddle. Welllll it was a puddle but NOT a puddle of water like I thought it was. It was actually a puddle of chicken blood that the market butcher spilled. It was dark out and there were very few lights on the street. I didn’t catch on that it was blood until I got close to a light and freaked out when I looked down.

When I was teaching in China I got into a tug of war match with one of my students over a comic book. My supervisor was taping my class that day and got the whole thing on camera. I wish I had a copy of that!

We Love our Backyard

This is our second time around planting a garden. Last year was awful but this year it’s looking pretty awesome! Look who agreed and decided to stop by for an all you can eat buffet. I took a million pictures of him then decided it was time to move him and his possy to another location. I went to grab the little dude and he turned into the devil, horns and all!

He sure showed me. After his crazy horns popped out I left him alone to dine to his little heart's content. I had no idea caterpillars are kin to the devil! Please tell me I’m not the only one that didn’t know this!

Parker’s tree is growing nice and strong! If you’re wondering what Parker’s tree is click HERE. I was admiring it the other day and noticed a bird’s nest tucked inside. It made me smile so naturally I grabbed my camera. :o)

Kent and I LOVE getting up early on the weekends and having a little am date in the backyard. We just chat about our week and enjoy the morning. It’s quite and calming and I love it!

Ninja found a new favorite digging spot. When the weather is nice we let him play in the backyard which he loves and so do I. I could watch that little guy hop and play for hours. He’s so stinking cute! I need to video tape him playing so I can share his awesome Ninja moves with y’all.

Oh man this was heavenly and perfect for a hot day!!! I’m not gonna lie it’s taste a little better knowing that we grew some of the ingredients.

Flowers from the yard tucked inside a little mason jar with some scrap burlap wrapped around the outside. Love having flowers that I can enjoy inside and out!

Our backyard is far from beautiful but I love the memories it provide us! Kent and I got engaged in our backyard so that makes it even more special!

Guess What I Did on Sunday?

I was in a flash mob!

It was stinking hot outside and I had to keep pulling my pants up during the dance BUT it was TONS of fun! Being in a flash mob was on my bucket list. Not anymore! Yay for doing something that made me nervous AND for crossing something off my bucket list!

The flash mob was organized by my workout instructor. I’ve been attending the Danceaton class at 24 Hour Fitness for a while and I LOVE it! We meet Monday through Sunday, sweat like crazy, and get our groove on! It’s so much fun! I If you like to shake your booty I highly recommend Danceaton! Below is picture of the flash mob group aka some of my Danceaton buds.

Don’t ask about my shirt. Our instructor brought some funky duck tape along to decorate our shirts.
She wanted us to go for an 80’s vibe.

Kent was there in the 100 degree weather being an awesome supportive stage husband. Love that man!

I’m all about stepping out of my box this year! No telling what else is in store!

What I’ve Been Up To

Work has been really busy the last couple of months which of course makes me super-duper happy! Ever since we’ve been back from Vegas things have been busy, busy, busy!

You know what though, I can’t complain because I pretty much invite busyness into my life! I thrive on being busy! It makes me happy!

I did take this weekend off though. I have plans to relax, read, enjoy the sun, cook, and catch up on my Project Life album! Oh and I just might be doing something kind of cool on Sunday. I will be stepping out of my box and I’m a little nervous about it. I’m not going to dish about what it is in case I back out. Kent will be coming along and will have the video camera in hand. If I go through with it I’ll share the clip.

Want to know what I’ve been working on lately?
Here are a few pictures from some of my recent sessions.

I had 5 momma clients all due the same week! I was so fun to see who was going to have their baby 1st. All babies are now born and I’m up to my eyeballs in newborn sessions! Newborn sessions are one of my favorite to photograph! I say “one of my favorite” because I love a little something about each and every type of session!

Up to this point I’ve said no to wedding photography. I’m tickled that people have even asked! Really…..what an honor!

Well I can now say that after 2 years of preparing I am opening the wedding photography doors! I think I’m ready! I have my 1st wedding on the schedule it’s an out of town wedding….FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Things are going really great!
I’m happy and loving the married life! My business is growing and doing well! I’ve finally found a workout routine that I’m ga-ga over. I think that’s the trick. If you find something you love you’ll keep doing it! I’m just in a really awesome place right now. I feel like I need to pinch myself some days. Not that things weren't great before, it just feels different….not sure how to explain it but to say that I am beyond happy and feel extremely blessed! Life is good!

A Nice Way to Start Your Week

I was reading Tamara Lackey’s book on Children’s Portraits the other day and came across something in the marketing section that I thought was worth sharing. It was geared towards business but I think it’s something that we can all benefit from in our daily lives.

While I saw this quote in Tamara’s book it actually comes from How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, which Tamara sings its praises. I’ve add it to the list of a million other books I plan to read this summer. :o)

A few words of wisdom from Dale Carnegie:

Be nice. Avoid being negative. Be genuinely interested in other people. Listen to people when they talk. Don’t just hear them but listen. Engage in conversation that is interesting to others. Avoid arguments or the practice of telling people that they are wrong. Admit when you are. Let people vent; try not to interrupt. Be sincere.

Love that! I try my best to all of these things when I’m interacting with others but sometimes it’s good to be reminded.

iPhone Pictures 2nd Edition

I love having a camera on my phone! It allows me to take pictures of things that I otherwise would let slip by…..you know, the little things. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to take a picture of something but my camera was upstairs and I was downstairs OR I knew if I moved I would disrupt the moment. Enter the camera phone and hoards of fun but random pictures!

Sometimes I like to work from coffee shops! Actually I like to work from coffee shops ALL the time but I only edit images from my home PC so I hit the coffee shop up when I need to catch up on e-mails.

When the weather is nice I try to move my office outside. Sounds like a great idea but I usually don’t get much done between cuddling with Abby and Ninja.

Sometimes I work from my dining room. Love when I do that because that means I’m working with a tiny, wrinkly, newborn.

These flowers were from Kent and said: I know you had 3 photo shoots today and are exhausted but I forgot to tell you my parents are coming over for dinner in an hour.

Oh yeah that was real fun! Our house was a mess and I just sat down to relax when he sprang it on me.

I like to take pictures of the items I plan to use on a shoot. It kind of give me a different perspective on how everything plays together.

Books I want to buy:
When I have down time I LOVE to go to Barnes and Noble and peruse the books. I take a picture of the books that I’m interested in, come home and read the reviews on them, and buy the ones I want through Amazon for a cheaper price.

What I’m reading right now.

Songs that I Like:
When I’m in the car and I hear a song I like I snap a pic of the name of the song and who sings it. That way I don’t forget and can download it later. How many times have you heard a song on the radio that you loved and for the life you could not remember the name of it?

Wardrobe Revamp: Part 1

I’m a uniform wearer!
I’m not talking scrubs here……….

You know, an “outfit uniform” that you love and wear over and over again. I usually have 2-3 uniforms that I pick from. Now I’m not talking sweat pants and t-shirts here (although I do love a comfy pair of yoga pants).

When something falls into my “uniform” category it’s usually cute, comfy, something I can work in, and well accessorized BUT I wear that outfit until I can wear it no more!

It’s boring and I want more from my wardrobe!

Now that I’m working full time from home during the week (unless I’m out shooting) I LIVE in workout clothes and I’m okay with that. There’s really no need for me to get all dolled up to sit in my office by myself. With that being said I do still fix my hair, put on a little makeup, and make sure my outfit is not too crazy (usually yoga pants, and a tank). I feel more productive when I’m somewhat put together.

BUT when I’m out running errands, visiting with friends and family, or on location shooting I want to make sure that I’m look pulled together and well…..cute!

I’m in a bit of a fashion funk!

-I seem to be drawn to dark clothes only! Dark colors hide thing, things I don’t want people to see like fats rolls and cellulite (yes I have it). I love dark clothes but my wardrobe now resembles that of a vampire’s.

-I’ve become jersey knits biggest fan. It’s drapy, its’ comfy, it hides things. I have jersey knits shirts in all styles. I’m drawn to them like a bug to a bug zapper!

-I wear the same pearl studs everyday even though I have hoards of cute jewelry.

-I’ve started dressing for myself, comfort, and NOT for my husband.

-I’ve stopped taking chances and usually go for whatever hides my rolls.

I could go on and on with all the things I’ve been doing wrong lately. Things that I know are big no-no’s. Things that I would have never done in the past. Things that I promised I would never do. I feel that I’ve lost my way……

but I’m ready to come back!

How I’m Getting My Fashion Mojo Back……..

-I’m slowing but surely building up my wardrobe and including splashes of color. Bright and bold colors are in this spring/summer.

-I’m taking note of outfits I see in magazines or on the street, things that I like that I can recreate.

-I’m looking for items that are interchangeable with each other so I can create several different looks without spending a ton.

-I’ve organized my jewelry so I can easily see what I have.

- I went to MAC and got a makeover (more on that later)

- I take the extra time on the weekends to get dressed (even if I’m just running errands) and try to look good for my honey.

In the past I was dressing for myself and why it sounds a little 50’s-ish don’t we all want our significant others to like how we look? A while back before I started my mini fashion makeover I asked Kent what he thought about the way I dressed. He said I looked like a cute stylish mom. Well, that’s not really a bad thing at least he threw in stylish and cute. BUT I’m not a mom and I don’t want him to look at me like a mom, more like his hot wife. That set the change in motion. It wasn’t a change only for him but something I wanted for myself as well.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dress awful before. I actually got complements on my outfits. I was just stuck in a wardrobe rut. I needed to be energized before I turned into the girl that is “soooo stuck in the early 2000’s”. ;o)

Now I’m not saying that my clothing, makeup, and whatnot are looking good every single day. Not even close! I still look to one of my clothing uniforms if I’m in a big rush. I still love jersey knitt. Some days my hair is a mess. BUT I’m making a conscious effort to define my style (whatever it may be) and I make the time on the weekends to play around with my makeup a bit more, wear something that I didn’t wear the weekend before, fix my hair in a new way…….you know, have fun with fashion the way I use to!

Thrift Store Treasures

I haven’t done a thrift store treasure post in forever! It really does seems like forever but it’s been more like 4 months….who’s counting though right?

Okay maybe I’m counting but I’ve MISSED it sooooo much!

Work has been crazy and throw a wedding in the mix and I really didn’t have time OR the space for anymore thrifty treasures. Okay maybe it’s more about the space. I can ALWAYS make time for thrifting.

I was going through withdrawals!
When I start dreaming about thrift stores I know it’s been far too long. Yes I often dream about thrifitng…..don’t hate!

I thought I would just pop in, take a look around and leave empty handed. You know, just get a quick fix. I was sure I was capable of hitting up GW and leaving empty handed…….no problem!

Well as you can see from the pictures below I failed!

The yellow scarf on the left is hand knitted and the white beauty on the right is a brand spanking new Fossil scarf! LOVE them!

Brand new Egyptian cotton throw. I’m a sucker for anything yellow!

Love this top! It’s very vintage stewardess, don’t cha think? I thought it would look cute with my favorite black headband (shown in the pic above), big peal studs, black Bermuda shorts, and my black Target sandals.

I had to make sure I bought something for Kent……you know to kind of sweeten the whole deal.

He actually doesn’t mind when I shop at GW but we’re going though this whole declutter and organize EVERYTHING faze right now and I wasn’t too sure that he would be thrilled that I was buying more stuff.

My planned worked! The second I told him I bought him a couple shirts he brightened right up! ;o)

My total this trip: $20.00!

Japanese Botanical Gardens – Stayacation

We haven't been on our official honeymoon yet BUT we did take some time off work after the wedding to relax a bit.

The sad thing is that our week of relaxation turned into a week of laundry, cleaning, thank you note writing, wedding slide show making, wedding picture editing, oh yeah and work somehow snuck in there a bit. I couldn’t help myself!

I got a little upset the last few days of our “staycation”. The week had flown by and we had yet to do anything for ourselves. I felt like we got the shaft! The wedding was crazy busy, and now our little staycataion was quickly coming to an end.

We had to right our wrong so we headed out for an afternoon romp around the Japanese Gardens…..

No work
No laundry
No to do list

JUST US!

If you live in the DFW area the Japanese Gardens are a MUST! Trust me you’ll want to thank me after you go! I’ve been out there 4 times this year and I’m still not tired of it!

I took a million pictures of the Koi. Not only are they beautiful they’re funny too! Who would have thought fish could be funny. They do this little pouty mouth thing that makes you want to give them all your money.

Doesn’t this little guy look like I just stole his puppy?
I found myself apologizing to him but I had no idea why.

Wish I could tell you the name of this flower but I can’t. It sure is pretty though!

This stopped me in my tracks!
I loved how the sun was shining through the trees. It almost has a dreamy look to it.

Yet another pretty flower I can’t tell you the name of.

especially if you have motion sickness!

I think this is kind of neat but I can only look at it for a few seconds.

How I did this: I focused on the end of the tunnel, bumped my shutter speed down, and zoomed in while I snapped the shot. A little trippy but neat.

We stayed at the Japanese Gardens until they kicked us out and ended our night with a big feast at Pappadeaux. Pappadeaux is our favorite restaurant and where we met 11 years ago.

While our little staycataion ended way too soon I was happy that we took some time for ourselves; even if it was just a day.

I’m finally starting to come out of my post wedding fog.

We Said “I Do”- Our Mandalay Bay Wedding Picture Slide Show

The wedding went off without a hitch!

No major issues!

The chapel was just as pretty as I hoped it would be.

I did my own makeup and was very happy with it! Before the wedding I envisioned messing it up moments before the ceremony and having to start all over….

but that didn’t happen.

Kent looked handsome and my mom looked beautiful.

Everyone was happy!

Dinner was great and our guests were tickled with the selection.

Our cake was out of this world. I wasn’t expecting much since the cake was an afterthought added on at the very end of our planning stages but it was moist, delicious, and pretty! Dare I say the BEST wedding cake I’ve ever had!

I didn’t love my flowers but I also didn’t hate them. I thought Kent boutonniere looked great with his shirt and tie.

Oh and I didn’t faint OR cry……

until I said my vows, then I cried a little.

Wedding pictures…….

I’m not in love with them BUT I’m so happy we have them! I’m just more of a natural outdoor photography kind of gal. As y’all know I’m cheap and we had to pay a pretty penny to get the digital rights to them. Paying as much as we did for pictures that you’re not in love with stings a little but again I know when we’re wrinkly and grey we’ll be sooooo happy we have them!

Our trip to Vegas was quick. I still feel like I’m trying to catch up on sleep and things have been super busy since we’ve been back.

We wish we had a little more time to play tourist while we were in Vegas but it gives us something to look forward to on our next Vegas trip!

Kent and I have been on a little “staycation” this week. Although our free time has been spent running errands, writing thank you cards, editing pictures, and working on our wedding slide show we did sneak off on Thursday and take a little time for ourselves. I’ll post pictures of what we did on a later date.

We have several family members and friends that were unable to attend the wedding so Kent put together a little wedding picture slide show so we can share our BIG day with them.

I thought I would share it with YOU as well!!!

Wedding Countdown

In 3 days we will be on our way to Vegas!
In 4 days I’ll be a married gal!

I can’t believe the wedding is so close. It kind of snuck up on me. For some reason I was thinking we had more time. I still have a ton of things to take care of before we leave, little things but lots of them!

Things will be a little sparse around here until we get back but when we get back….watch out because I’m sure I’ll have loads of fun stories and pictures to share! Kent is going to put together a little video montage for our family members that are unable to attend. Once he gets that put together I’ll share it with ya!

The details of the wedding are kind of a surprise to us.

-We’ve never seen the chapel in person

-When choosing wedding flowers my choices were roses or a spring mix. I circled spring mix and told them the colors I would like. No idea what they’re going to look like

-We have a pianist playing during the ceremony but we’ve never actually heard him play before….that could be a mess.

-Didn’t get to taste the wedding cake or discuss the design. No clue what it’s going to look like.

But you know what….it’s all good! I kind of like that we have a few surprises in store for us and I like even more that I didn’t have to stress over the details!

Feeling Better

The last few days have been hard. My emotions have put me on one big rollercoaster; UP and down, and UP and down.

Friday was the hardest.

Kent went back to work and I was left alone for the 1st time in 10 years. Parker always keeps me company when I’m home. I think the loneliness has been one of the hardest things to stomach. It’s going to take some time.

Abby (our Chihuahua) has been in a bit of a funk. Parker was the leader and she followed his every move. He was her safety zone.

Abby comes from an abusive home and is supper skittish due to her past. Without Parker she has become more fearful even jumping when Kent and I make a quick move. Her potty breaks have been nonexistent. When we let her outside she just stays on the porch. She used to only go potty when Parker was out with her. Thank the lord that she also uses indoor potty pads or we would have a lot of mess on our hands. Leaving Abby home alone has been hard. She now starts whining and tries to rush out the door when we leave. Kent says it’s because she doesn’t want to be left alone. That breaks my heart.

She is adjusting just as we are.

I started feeling more like myself on Saturday. I could talk about what happened without crying. I could look at Parker’s favorite toy, his food and water bowls, or the place he used to sleep without breaking down.

I still think I hear him bark every now and then and look for him when I open my eyes in the morning. He used to sleep on the floor next to my side of the bed. The 1st thing I did every morning was look for him. I still do it, out of habit I guess. Maybe my brain is still trying to grasp reality.

We planted a tree in Parker’s honor that we now refer to as “Parker’s Tree”. It makes me happy. Kent pulled Parker’s sign out of one of our flower beds and placed it under the tree making sure I can see it when I look out the kitchen window.

Kent has been such a rock for me. I’m so grateful to have such an amazing man in my life. I had clients come to the house on Friday for a newborn shoot. He insisted that I get some sleep and offered to pick the house up for me. Knowing that he had a 1am work call I felt awful having him clean but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. When I walked down the stairs the next morning the whole house was spotless.

Knowing just how much I love Parker Kent has always been fearful of the day that we would have to go through this. He hurts when I hurt but I couldn’t ask for better support. He’s been amazing and is the reason I’m doing so well today.

We’ve had so much support from friends and family members; daily phone calls, text, cards, and flowers. Many of them loved Parker. They’ve cried right along with us. It warms my heart knowing how much he was loved not only by Kent and I but people that knew him as well. He was just one of those fun loving dogs that made everyone feel like they were his best friend. Parker loved people more than dogs.

My heart still hurts and I break down every now and then but I’m laughing and smiling again. I miss him. I think I’ll always miss him but I know every day things will get easier.

Not Sure What to Title This

I don’t know where to start or what to say. I hoped I wouldn’t be writing a post such as this for a very long time.

My heart is broken.
I can’t stop crying.
My eyes are puffy and red and my head feels like it’s in some type of medieval crushing vice.

Last night we had to put Parker (our dog) to sleep.

I hope it gets easer but now all I can think about is the loss.

The loss of my best friend
The loss of my shadow
The loss of my furry co-worker
The loss of my court jester
The loss of my constant companion
The loss of my teddy bear

Parker was more than a dog to us. He was a part of our lives for 10 years. He was part of our family and loved by all who knew him.

I know the pain will lighten and I will soon be able to remember all the enduring qualities Parker had with joy but for now I’m ridden with sorrow and devastated over the loss.

Randomness if Fun

It’s me checking in with another random post, hodgepodge post if you will.

It was a sad day indeed. My all time favorite coffee cup has died. I bought her at Goodwill and I love her dearly. I’m determined to finder her replacement. For now I think I’m going to use her as a makeup brush holder. I just can’t bear to throw her away. We’ve had some good times together!

I don’t know why this picture cracks me up, but it does! We’ve been hanging out in the backyard a lot lately and always take Ninja out with us so he can get some exercise.

Kent was working on his raised beds and Ninja was all up in his business checking everything out. Kent was making all kind of ruckus and throwing things around but it didn’t faze Ninja one bit. He just wanted to be right there in the middle of it all.

I bought these goodies at Ross. I know right, who knew that Ross carries craft supplies. The Martha Stewart die cuts were $2.99 each and the scrap book paper pack was $4.00! The paper pack was all torn up so I asked if they would take anything off and they did! I LOVE all the fun bright colors and y’all know I’m a sucker for polka dots.

IKEA has orchids for $12.99. That’s a great price for a multi stem orchid.

I stopped in IKEA the other day to pick up a prop for a shoot and passed by a table full of these beauties. Surrounding the orchid table was a sea Asians which lead me to think “Hum my Asian LOVES orchids too. I should pick one up for him!” Kent is obsessed with orchids and rightfully so, they’re beautiful. I told everyone to watch out, big white girl is coming in! Just kidding I didn’t say that but I did think it! ;o)

I picked the one that had the most buds and said peace out! You should have seen Kent when I surprised him with it. It made his day. We have several orchids but he said this one is his favorite.

Want to know something else? Kent names his orchids after famous people. We have a white orchid named Betty White. A pink one named Pink (original right). A funky one named Ga Ga. A red one named Lucille Ball. Not sure what he’s going to name this one. I don’t think he’ll care that I told you that. He visits the blog but doesn’t really read it. You know my rule…….If you don’t read the blog you’re fare game!

I had my 1st pedicure since the whole pumpkin toe debacle. It’s been a long 7 months! It still looks a little funky but at least I’ll have a toenail for the summer! If you have no idea what I’m talking about you can catch up HERE but be warned it’s gross!

In Other News……..

If you follow me on facebook your already know most of this so you have my permission to skip this part. ;o):

-We’ve been looking of a new car; good times, good times. A car salesman asked us if we were” jerking his chain” the other day to which Kent and I stopped in our tracks looked at each other and busted out laughing. Yeah that one made it into my Line A Day journal for sure. It was classic!

-I’m having a girls only game night/P.J. party at my house this weekend!

-This is my last weekend of shoots before we tie the knot! I’m shooting a maternity and an engagement session (not at the same time, different people ;o) )!

-Oh and I’ve added a few new lenses to my arsenal: 100mm 2.8 Macro and 17-40mm L series. This is my 1st L series lens (or as I call it red line lens). I feel so fancy!

Last One Till We Say “I DO”

Last weekend Kent and I attended our last wedding as boyfriend and girlfriend and let me tell ya it was awesome! I had tons of pretty things to take pictures of! The wedding was stunning, the bride was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was top notch! It was a wedding straight out of a magazine!

I couldn’t be more happy for the bride and groom!

Attending a wedding so close to ours was kind of surreal. I couldn't help but think that this is going to be us in a few short weeks. The bride was as solid as a rock. I didn’t see one tear run down her cheek. It was great for me to see this. I really, really don’t want to cry at our wedding.

You see Kent and I have been through an awful lot to get where we are today. It has not been an easy road. You may remember me telling you in the past that we’ve been engaged for 5 years and previously had a wedding planned. That’s right, this is not our 1st time to plan our wedded bliss.

Merging our two cultures has been a bit trying at times as we both come from VERY different families. There have been a lot of BIG talks, rude awakenings, and tears shed along the way…….

but we’ve made it through it all and are stronger
in our love than ever before.

When I start to think about all that we’ve over come to get where we are today I start to tear up. When I think about walking down the aisle and seeing Kent waiting for me at the alter my heart fills with joy and I feel like throwing my hands in the air and shouting “WE DID IT, WE DID IT!”

My family of course would not be surprised to see me do something silly like this (they know I’m wacky) but Kent’s family may be a little stunned and try to talk him out of marrying me so I won’t do that. I would hate to have to put our wedding off yet again!

Seeing my friend walk down the aisle without shedding a tear gave me hope that I too can do the same. I think if I start to cry I might not stop so I ‘d rather not even go there.

I even picked a nontraditional song for my to walk down the aisle. It’s happy and upbeat! I’m trying to do everything I can!

I had a talk with my dad aka big teddy bear that has a heart of gold and cries at sad movies (it must be where I get it from).

It went a little something like this…….

My family

Kendra: Dad please don’t cry the day of the wedding. If I see you cry I’ll lose it and that would just be ugly.

Dad: ………. (crickets chirping)

Kendra: I can see it now both of us walking down the aisle sobbing like big ol’ babies.

Kendra: Dad?

I looked over at my dad to see him sobbing. Shoulders shaking, head dropped the whole bit. Just the words “Dad don’t cry the day of the wedding.” sent him into a tizzy. Gotta love his big squishy heart.

Odds are that we’ll both be crying on the big day but they will be tears of joy and love not sadness. I’m not going to lie I may be a little bitter about the journey we had to take to get here BUT our rocky ride has made us stronger and further shows us that together we can climb mountains BIG mountains…….

because I love him and he loves me.

It’s the 1st day of spring!

I had this great idea (or at least I thought it was a great idea) to post pictures of Ninja (our bunny) doing his crazy bunny jumps with the words “Spring Has Sprung!”

The problem is most of my pictures ended up looking like this………

Out of focus with Ninja half way out of the frame. We don’t call him Ninja for nothing. This little guy has some stealth Ninja moves!

So instead fun pictures of Ninja doing back flips we’ll have to settle for this………….

Hostesses Gift/Birthday Gift Idea & A Little Bridal Shower Love

My bridal shower was last weekend and boy was I spoiled! It was beautiful and quite possibly the nicest bridal shower I’ve ever been to!

I wanted to do something special for my hostesses with the mostesses so I put together a little coffee gift basket as they too are fellow coffee lovers!

On a side note reason #1,405 why I LOVE having a facebook account for this ol’ blog here. I needed some ideas for a hostess gift so I jump on facebook and asked my lovely fan’s (oh it feels weird to say fans, lets go with bloggie friends)! Anyhoo I had several people willing to share ideas. Jillian suggested a coffee gift basket and 2 out of the 3 hostesses are coffee lovers so it was a great idea! Sonya suggested a charm which was another fab idea because my mom (who happened to be hostess # 3) has a Pandora charm bracelet and I knew she would love to have a charm to remember the occasion. Thanks so much for all the great ideas! Y’all are awesome!

Okay back to the project………

I hit up Target and bought for all the fixins for the gift basket! I should have bought extra pails…..I see many a project for those little guys!

Target carries my all time FAVORITE travel mug. It’s made by OXO. It’s their liquid seal travel mug and let me tell ya it’s the bomb! I can fill it will coffee and throw it in my purse and never worry about it spilling. No I’m not in any way affiliated with OXO I just really like the mug….can you tell?

I filled the bottom of each pail with a torn up cereal bar box to give the goodies I filled it with a little height.

I used my hot glue gun to glue the biscotti around the outside of the pail. Then I filled it will a little shredded paper from the Dollar store and added the rest of the goodies to the pail.

Once everything was nestled inside I wrapped it up with a cellophane gift bag and tied it with a little raffia. I like the way it turned out!

This would be a great birthday gift as well!

On to the shower!

I was busy being the guest of honor and failed miserably at taking pictures. My mom manned the camera for me a bit so I have tons of pictures of me doing this……..

Flattering right! Don’t worry mom I’ll get ya back! ;o)Remember she doesn’t read my blog. If ya don’t read my blog you’re fare game, HA, HA, HA, HAAAA! ;o)

I tried to break as many ribbons as possible. Lots of babies for us please! Kent wants 2 but I would be smitten with 3 or 4! That way if we have a screw up we can still have hope for the others…..I kid, I kid!

We had lots of yummy food!

The decorations were beautiful! My sis-in-law made the wreath above. She’s pretty awesome! No really, she’s pretty AND awesome! She paid me to say that. ;o)

We got some really great gifts!

Oh yeah, and someone officially became my mini me…..TWINS! I can’t believe we were almost wearing the same thing…too funny!

It was a GREAT shower. I wish I took more pictures but what can ya do! I’ll make up for it at the wedding I’m sure!

3 weeks till we say I DO!
