My Birthday Weekend…….

I celebrated my 28^th birthday on Sunday and boy was I spoiled! I’m one of those annoying people that stretches their birthday celebration as looooong as they can. In fact I titled the weekend “My Birth Day Weekend.” I started celebrating on Friday and continued until late Sunday evening. :o) I went about my birthday a little differently this year and made NO PLANS! I wanted a relaxing weekend with no stress or obligations. I just let the weekend take me where it wanted me to go. I of course took my camera along for the journey.

A birthday with no plans……… sounds kind of boring huh? It ended up being one of the best birthdays! I’m so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends that took the time to celebrate my birthday even though I didn’t make plans to do a thing. Sometimes letting go and seeing where the day takes you may be just what you need!

My First (Real) Photo Shoot

 

Flashback Post:

I came across this picture the other day when I was
looking through some old photos. It’s gave me a good chuckle!

My poor dog played model to my endless “pretend” photo shoots. Photography has always been a passion of mine and here’s proof. From the looks of my awesome bedroom décor ;o) I must have been in elementary school when I took this….maybe 8 or 9. I’m sure I was using my fancy and very expensive clicking windup camera. :o) Looks like I was being thrifty and thinking outside the box even back then. The taped up backdrop was a tabled cloth that decorated my nightstand. Ha! I love old pictures. 

New Digs!

Some of you may have noticed that Domestic Princess in Training had a little facelift! I wanted something fun, fresh, and timeless. Bailey did a wonderful job delivering just what I asked for! Let’s talk about some of the new features on DPIT and just because I hate a post with no pictures I threw in a few pictures of our cute lionhead bunny Ninja!

 

New Features

Facebook: Domestic Princess in Training now has a fan page. It’s a little lonely over there right now so come on by and “Like” it so we can chat! We can share craft and home decor ideas, links to yummy recipes, and get to know each other a little more. I think it will be a great place to post little snip-bits that are not post worthy like silly things I find in my thrifitng adventures, sales/deals, what I’m up to, and random pictures that I take throughout the day. Just click on the cute little “f” pink button in the sidebar and it will take to you need to go. Hope to see you there!

34 Days Until Fall!

Let the countdown begin!

The chalk board above hangs on the side of my fridge and says just what I’m longing for. I have a deep, deep, love for fall! My home is decorated with warm comfy colors that the season brings. I will literally stop in my tracks and drool over foliage as it changes and welcomes the season. I often walk out of my house towards the end of September just to breath in that heavenly fall smell (Kent thinks I’m off my rocker when I do this). I don’t know what it is but something in the air changes when fall is approaching………..and I like it! 

Even though it’s stinking hot outside and I’m wearing flip flops and tank tops I’m pretending that fall is already here!

        I’m getting into my pumpkin spice coffee reserve! I stock piled pumpkin spiced coffee pods for my Keurig before they discontinued them last fall. 

 
I’m starting to get my bake on! Not sure why but I LOVE to bake in the fall. I made banana nut muffins last week and only at half a muffin (trying to watch my sugar intake)! That’s a huge step for a someone who has the biggest sweet
tooth in ALLLLL of Texas!

 
I’m tired of looking at my spring/summer wreath. I’m ready to put this bad boy back on the door! Maybe I should be the neighborhood rebel and put it on my
door before fall!

When fall is approaching I look forward to………

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes: at Starbucks: I can’t wait until Starbucks brings their pumpkin spiced lattes back. I think they start serving them September 1st!


 Yummy Fall Scented Candles: Bath and Body Works has their new Fall candles out. I just visited their site and it looks like that have: Carmel Apple, Cinnamon & Clove, Leaves (my favorite), Kitchen Spice, Creamy Pumpkin, and Autumn!


The Texas State Fair: Above is a picture of Big Tex. He greets all fair goers and is a big part of the Texas Stare Fair experience. Due to my “wedding diet” I will not be eating all the delicious fired foods the fair has to offer but I will take my camera along to snap a few pictures and enjoy a bit of people watching! 



       
        
Halloween: We LOVE Halloween! Can you guess who we were last year? How could we not be Jon and Kate…….right?



   Warm Comfy Clothes: The picture above is a bit excess for fall but you get the point. I think this was taken during the BIG Texas snow storm of 2009 ;o). I love bundling up in jackets and sweaters, so comfy and cozy! 

I could go on and on with my fall love affair: fuzzy house shoes, flannel PJ’s, piping hot bubble baths with it’s chilly outside, nice cup of hot tea on a crisp autumn morning, pumpkin bread, fall decor, writing my thankful page in my journal………………

I Loathe Yard Work

If it was up to me we would have rocks for grass! Luckily I have a sweet fiancée that gets his jollies from back breaking, sweat inducing yard work. See why we’re a perfect match!

I Did It………

 and survived!

My dirty little secret is out! It took about 45min and several numbing shots but I can now cross “Get Tooth Pulled” off my list. I had visions of making a run for it before it was too late but I stuck it out and put on my big girl pants. So happy I did! I may not be saying that in an hour or so when the pain starts kicking in but my dentist gave me some pills to help with that. I have a few stitches and have been put on a liquid diet for a couple of days but other than that I’m all good. If you’re like me and have a fear of going to the dentist don’t let that get in the way of taking care of your teeth. You only get 1 set and if I faced my fear so can you!!!
Lots of crazy things going on in the Kent/Kendra house this week. Hope to be back later to share. For now I have tomatoes basil soup, pain meds, and a movie waiting for me.

Dentist :(

I have a date with the devil today. Okay not the devil but the dentist, pretty close right? I’m the biggest baby when it comes to dental work. I hate going to the dentist! I hate it so much that I’ve put something off for far too long and now need to have a tooth pulled. I’ve never had an adult tooth pulled so I’m pretty freaked out about it. This is my second attempt to get this bad boy knocked out. At my last appointment I broke out in hives and started laughing like a hyena. The dentist who is as sweet as pie told me he wanted to give me more time and TLC so I made another appointment. Said appointment is today at 1:30!So if you see this before then please send soothing thoughts my way…….I’m going to need them!
