Quick and Cheap Photo Gallery

This little project takes places in my studio!
The plan is to eventually order canvases for the walls BUT we have a problem.
I’m SUPER indecisive when it comes to deciding on something I’m going to be locked into for awhile.  You should see me trying to pick out a yearly planner or paint color……….oh man it’s bad!
I have tons of favorite images which changes daily. How in the world am I supposed to pick a small handful stick with them?
This is a decision that will take some time and these walls needed a little love while Mrs. Indecisive over here makes up her mind! The quick  yet temporary  fix?

It’s exactly what the title says!

Quick: It took me 30 minutes to put this together! I hate measuring things!

Nope this ADD gal does not have the attention span to measure everything thing out perfectly which drives the hubby nuts!

I just eyeballed it! Not prefect but eh it works!

Cheap: I printed a few of my favorite images. Ran to Walmart and bought mini clothes pins and twine which you can find in their craft section. 

Place a little nail at the end of each section and twist the twine around the nail head until it’s secure. Get your clothes pins and go to town!

There ya have it! The perfect fix for the indecisive girl!

Another great thing about this project is that it’s super versatile!

It’s so easy to change the photos out. This would be great for Instagram photos and random mementos!

This big blank wall above the changing table screams “AWESOME GALLERY WALL USE ME” but until I make up my mind this will do!

Because we all love a little behind the scenes shot here’s some of my prop stash.

Fall Porch Décor–Pumpkins Galore

Didn’t want to go too crazy with this year’s fall porch décor.

Nah

Last time I made my own glaze, painted pumpkins, crafted up some fall themed tea lights.

Yeah it was cute and all but it was a lot of work!

This time I just wanted to throw something together.

Here’s what I came up with………

 

 

I’m still using the same fall wreath I made a few years back. It’s been around for awhile but I love it so it gets to stay!

 

I thought I would save myself some time and just plant pumpkins instead of pansies. You don’t have to water pumpkins……well after they’re off the vine you don’t!

 

My shadow aka Brady aka The Tornado was having a hissy fit that he had to stay inside.

I didn’t  realize he was photobombing until I looked back though the pictures. Only 3 1/2 months old and already rocking the photobomb what a little genius.

 

On Friday I’m going to the World’s Longest Garage sale with my mom. In fact by the time you read this I’m probably already getting my shop on!

Y’all I can even tell you how excited I am. We’re talking miles upon miles of awesomeness! I’ll be taking pics and video so I can share. If you would like to follow along find me on Instagram. I’ll be posting throughout the day!

Thrifty Treasures

Y’all know I love to get my thrift on! I pass right by Goodwill on my way to the gym so if I have time I pop in to see what I can find. Some days are great others not so much but that’s just nature of the beast!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Thrifty Treasures post. I’ve still been thrifting right along but haven’t been as good at stopping to take pictures of my finds. Most of my recent thrift store purchases have been props that I use in my photo shoots.

Everything in the picture was thrifted (except the phone that was taken out of Kent’s grandma’s house. He thought I would like it. My hubby knows me well!)

Pillows: $1.00 each, the yellow one on the end was $1.75

 

Even if I had a money tree in my backyard I would still get my thrift on!
I love the character all my thrifted items add to my home, my wardrobe, and my photography!

New Fluff in the Craft Room

I found some black bunny vinyls at Marshalls for $1.50 on clearance. I know shocker! I’m surprised people weren’t jumping at the bit to by these. ;o)  I kid, I kid! I think I’m the only one who would want black bunny vinyls.

Well since we do have a black bunny I thought it would be fun to use a few of them in my craft room (which is where Ninja our bunny lives).

I attached one to a white plate I bought at Goodwill. This little shelf is on the wall right above Ninja’s little bunny condo.

 

I popped into Ninja’s bunny condo to see what he thought about his new bunny decorations and he said LOVES it! ;o)

 

 

 

The planter and frame were pervious Gooodwill finds that I first showed you HERE. I put the frame away until I came across for the perfect picture to put in it. I was cleaning out some stuff and found a greeting card that I’ve been holding on to for awhile……I’m talking since high school. I’ve always loved the print! It just so happed that it fit perfectly in my frame and went great with the color scheme in my craft room! See sometimes holding onto things pays off!

Tip: If you have a cherished greeting card from a loved one or see one at the store you like think about framing it. If you need to fill a larger space on you wall think about finding a series or cards that you like and frame the series in multiple frames on your wall!  That’s what I call cheap art!

Something Unexpected in the Bathroom

Did the title scare you?

Hehehe……..what were you expecting see when you clicked on this post?

Well it may not be what your were thinking but non the less I think it’s quite unexpected.

Yes a chalkboard in our 1/2 bath!

 

Let me prefaces by saying this is the hardest room in our home to photograph. There is absolutely no natural light and just about enough room to turn around. Due to that it’s hard to get the full effect of the new addition but it’s cute….I promise!

I hung it on the wall right before our Christmas party and left it blank except for the words “Write on me” in hopes that our guest would leave a little note.

It was fun to see what everyone wrote!

 

 

 

I put the chalk in a little soy sauce dish on top of the toilet.

Oh and on a side note the little sleigh and ornaments as well as the frame that I turned into a chalkboard were GW finds.

I kind of guilted myself into buying the sleigh.

It’s handmade……..

I pictured an old grandma working feverishly night and day to give her granddaughter a homemade gift, the only gift she could afford. Said granddaughter didn’t like the homemade gift and tossed at a local GW. 

No way could I let the little old lady’s hard work go unappreciated.

I took it home with me.

If you were strange like me and made up odd stories about items you came across you too would have felt guilty and snatched it up.

Shopping for Christmas After Christmas

 

I love to hit up the stores after Christmas and stock up on cheap Christmas décor goodies for the following year.

Something else I love about shopping for Christmas decor after Christmas is that I forget what I bought. When I bring my Christmas stuff down from the attic I get so excited to see what the Christmas Décor Santa left for me.

 

This year he left me several boxes of these super cute birds with feathered tails! Oh Christmas Décor Santa, how I love thee!

The box says these bad boys were $6 per box but I’m certain that the Christmas Décor Santa didn’t pay full price. Oh no……he’s cheap just like me! ;o)

Fall Tea Light Craft

 

I have to rate this craft super easy on the difficulty scale. This would be a great fall craft to do with your kiddos.

 

All you need is…….

 * Something is use as a votive for your candle. I used a case Mason jars that I bought for $3 at an estate sale.

* Tissue paper, 1 pack of each color is plenty

* Candles OR L.E.D. tea lights (the ones that flicker like a real candle). You can find them at Hobby Lobby for $6 for a pack of 6. Not super cheap but I plan lining my sidewalk with these and I didn’t want to worry about them knocking over and starting a fire.

* Tape 

 

 

 

Tare your tissue paper into thin strips. Secure each strip to your votive with a piece tape. Always start each row of tape on the same side so you can turn the taped side to the back. If you plan on displaying them in a place they’ll be seen from all angles you may want to use double sided tape so it doesn’t show.

 

Once your tissue paper is taped, wrap the strip around the jar and secure the end with another piece of tape. You should end up where you started so the taped side will be out of site. Repeat this step until you’ve covered your votive. I decided to leave the top of the jar exposed but you can go all the way to the top if you like.

 

 

When you’re done it will look something like this!

Super easy huh?

 

I have BIG plans for these little guys. I’m hosting a harvest party for my gal pals this Friday! I plan to scatter these on my porch and down my sidewalk. I’ll share some pictures of how I use them in a later post.

Fall Décor: Living Room Edition

Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere……….

I stopped in the Dollar Store last week spent $25.00 dollars and left with bags full of pumpkins and leaves! I normally pass on the fall décor (even though I LOVE it) but this year we are having a harvest party so I knew I want to spread a little fall love throughout our home. My mission (should I decide to take it) was to not spend a dime more than what I spent at the Dollar Store! I would need to make the best out of what I bought and what I had on hand. Here’s what I came up with………….

I gave the Dollar Store pumpkins a little love by glazing, glittering, painting, and stacking them!

 

 

I wanted to fancy up the pumpkins by glazing them. The problem was that I didn’t have glaze on hand. Remember my mission not to spend a dime more than what I spent at the Dollar Store? Well I got a little crafty and made my own glaze by adding a little water to bronze paint. Looks just as good as store bought glaze.....at least I think so!

 

I used the Dollar Store leaves wherever I could. If you have a Dollar Tree close by snatch some of these bad boys up fast. So many things you can do with them. I love the colors they come in and the fact that they have wire in them. They’re pretty awesome!

 

I had an old wreath in my garage sale pile that I tore apart and used as garland on my mantel. Again making do with what I had on hand.

 

  I wanted the berries and twigs that I pulled off the beaten up wreath (now my mantel garland) to shimmer so I brush a little homemade glaze over them and fixed them right up! 

 

 

This tea lights is an old Goodwill purchase. Why in the world would someone toss these? I love the warm color they put off!

 

An antique picture tossed in with some Dollar Store leaves. Sheet music crinkled, rubbed in a little black ink and tied with toffee colored ribbon.

 

This apothecary jar is actually a vase topped with glassware found at Goodwill. Don’t believe me? Click here to see what I did.

 

    

Love using old worn books throughout my home.

 

 

I gave these pumpkins a good glazing and dusted them with
Martha Stewart bronze glitter.

 

Gathered some old fabric scraps I had on hand to create the garland I hung over the mirror. I saw this on someone's blog. I’ve looked high and low for the blog I saw it on but can NOT find it! Let me know if you know who it is and I will link back to them. :o)

I think I did pretty well with my “mission”! I do need to come clean about something. I bought one thing from Wally World. It was still a thrifty purchase and I used things I already had on had to complete my vision….does that make it better? I bought this super cute pumpkin for $5.00 at WalMart. I loved the gnarly stem!

 

Our home is decorated in warm tones so fall decor fits in nicely!

 

 

 

 
With a little paint, glitter, and creativity you can
turn inexpensive items………

 

into something to be proud of! As you’re fluffing your nest these next few months try to think outside the box and reinvent things you already have on hand.
