Bump Watch–38 Weeks

IMG_7273withsticker

How far along: 38 weeks and 3 days! Almost at the end!

What’s the baby up to: He’s plumping up and is around 19 1/2 inches long. He’s organs have matured and ready for life on the outside!

Best Moments:  We are pretty much ready to meet the little guy. The house is clean and organized. His nursery is all done. Our bags are almost packed. His baby gadgets are all set up. We’re 98% ready and let me tell ya it feels soooo good. I feel at peace this week and it’s pretty awesome. It’s been a busy week but I’ve been able to relax when I’m at home without a mental list running through my mind.

Funny/Odd Things that Happened this week:
Kent’s company surprised him with a baby shower. It was so sweet as men do not usually get showers at his office. A few of his employees got together and planed the whole thing…..tons of food, decorations, the whole nine yards. It made my heart happy to see people do something so special for him! Anyway they got in touch with me and wanted me to be a part of the surprise so I got dressed (out of gym clothes) and waddled my big sweaty butt up there! I don’t personal know many of the women he works with so this was my 1st time meeting them. At one point I was huddled around and told tons of awful labor horror stories by the women in his office! Why do women do this to other pregnant woman? It always seems like you get told the worst of the worst ya know?  In the beginning of my pregnancy I was fine with it but with D day knocking on my door it freaked me out! Stories of epidurals, massive blood loss, surgeries, babies getting stuck and having to be vacuumed out, wrecked bodies, and so on.  I literally got dizzy and had to sit down. I wanted to be polite so I tried my best to look interested and not horrified but goodness gracious! I came home and search youtube for positive birthing stories. I needed a little pick me up!

Lately I’ve been getting the “Aww you poor thing.” look from strangers. One lady even did a double take yesterday….no joke! I got a good chuckle out of it. Yes I’m big! Yes it’s hot! Yes I’m about to pop! Really though I’m okay. No need to pity or feel bad for me. I’m actually really going to miss being pregnant.

Clothing: Thank goodness for stretchy gym clothes! When I need to look a little more presentable I’m still LOVE my Jessica Simpson jeans capris, Old Navy maternity tanks, maxie dresses, and a few non maternity tops. I always accessorize to change things up!  I’m at the point where I could buy a few items with more room but I have a week and some change left so eh I’ll just need to squeeze into what I have until the end. My feet are pretty puffy and sore these days so I love my Corkys flip flops. I call them my granny shoes but they are oh so squishy and comfy!  The shirt I’m wearing in these photos is a Ross score and is not maternity. I thought it was petty funny!

Cravings: Pretty much anything clod……sandwiches, yogurt, salads, wraps, cold fruit, iced decafe coffee, fro yo,. I’ve been on a cold food kick for a couple of months. Even when I’m eating something that’s usually served hot I let it cool to room temperature before I dive in. I think the Texas heat has something to do with this cold food thing. It’s stinking hot here!

IMG_7299

Symptoms:
-I’ve entered the end of pregnancy puffy stage. My face, legs, feet, hands. I feel like the Goodyear blimp!
-The waddle! I’ve got it down especially if I’ve been on my feet at lot!
-The more active I am…….. the bigger my feet get…….. the more they hurt the next day. It’s a chain reaction.
-If I'm cleaning or doing a lot of stuff with my hands they get super sore and stiff. As if my hands were chopped off and replaced with the hands of an 80 year old with arthritis. I totally get those commercials where they show an elderly person trying to open a jar and getting super frustrated. Yeah I get it now!
-I’m sleeping pretty well besides a few potty breaks and needing to change sides due to my achy hips. Last week I was waking up at 3am on the dot and could not fall back asleep but thankfully that’s passed and I’m back to a normalish sleeping schedule. Oh and naps, naps are my BFF!
-I have patches of skin that get itchy. It’s usually worse at night or when I’ve been in the heat.
-This one is kind of weird. I have these white spots on my skin (legs, feet, forearms). It kind of looks like I’m not getting enough circulation but my doctor said it’s hormone related.
-I’ve lost my mucus plug and had my bloody show. Seriously can’t they come up with better names for this stuff….yuck!
-Not feeling any contractions
-Still stretch mark fee!
-My stats as of last Friday: 2cm dilated, 35% effaced, his head is at stage-2

For the most part I feel great to be this far along. I’m staying pretty active. I’m still my happy silly self and I’m not too uncomfortable. You hear tons of horror stories about  how awful the end is. For me it’s not that bad. Don’t get me wrong I’m not running marathons and doing cartwheels but I feel pretty good! I really love being pregnant!

Notes to Nugget: We’re ready for ya buddy! People kept telling me to “Relax”  “Forget the list.” “You’ll see none of that stuff matters in the long run.” but I stuck to it and made our Prepare for Baby List important and ya know what? We got it all done and it feels amazing! I so badly want you to come home to a calm clean environment all set up and ready for you. Your nana, grandpa, and grandma came over to help us finish up. It was a team effort! You’re nursery is all done and the house is clean from top to bottom ready to welcome you. We even made some changes to the backyard so you’ll have a nice big space to play in when you get older. Your Dad’s getting excited and says he hopes you come next week! As much as I want to hug and kiss on you I’m going to miss you being in my tummy. I love feeling your hiccups and nudges. It’s been a gift to carry you these last 9 months but I can’t wait to carry you in my arms. I have a feeling your nana and I are going to be fighting over who gets to hold you!

Update: We just got back from our weekly checkup. I’m currently 38 weeks and 5days. Wanted to update this just in case I don’t get a chance to do another bump watch post before Mr. gets here. Weston is a BIG dude! Our doctor thinks he’s  8.5lbs and has a big head (just like his daddy). I think babies with big heads are so stinking cute! Due to my mother’s labor history and we’re at with Weston our doctor is considering inducing us next week if she can get us in to our crazy popular hospital. Right now they have a wait list for most upcoming induction dates. We’re going back on Monday for a sono to get a better reading of his weight and see how he’s doing. If she feels that’s he’s ready thus having a medical reason to induce we may be induced next week. It’s all still up in the air and I’m not really sure how everything is going to play out BUT maybe baby next week!
Stats from our appointment: Still 2cm dilated, 75% effaced,  his head is at stage –1. These stats really mean nothing as they can change in an hour but I’m always interested to see if I’ve made any progress.

I’ll be updating though our Instagram account if you would like to follow along!

Bump Watch–26 Weeks

IMG_6048-editww

How Far Along: 26 weeks! Almost in our 3rd trimester baby!  The 1st 2 trimesters fly by. I can’t believe in 14 weeks our lives will never be the same…..NUTS!

What’s The Baby Up To: Little dude weights around 2lbs and is 14 inches long. He’s starting to open and close his eyes and can tell the difference between bright and low light.  When he hears a loud sound or notices a bright light he may react to the sudden change.

IMG_6083-editweb

Best Moments Of The Week (The last bump watch was 6 weeks ago so I have a few awesome moments to catch up on):
1. Getting back in bed with Kent so he can feel Weston’s kicks. Weston is super active in the morning so when he starts going wild I climb back in bed and we enjoy the show. Kent also got to see my tummy move for the first time sooo neat to share those moments with him. We just look at each other and giggle.

2. The bump as been getting a lot of attention while we’re out and about and I think it’s super sweet! At this point it’s fun and cute but we shall see if I get tired of it. My favorite is when children say something. I love their cute questions or hearing them say “Mommy she has a baby in her tummy.” Makes me smile.

3. Canton Trade Days baby! Weston and I hit the road and went Canton for a little mommy and bump shopping. It was just us. I was on a mission and wanted to get in and out quickly. I got almost everything on my list. This was also the 1st time a stranger asked when I was due….actually several people asked that day. I must have been looking mighty preggers.

4. Getting a little Weston love from a few clients. I can’t even tell you how special it is that they take the time to do something special for my little man. I sure am blessed to have such a great circle of thoughtful clients that I LOVE working with. Each time they reach out to book a new shoot I get tickled. I love seeing the kiddos and catching up with everyone.  I sure love them (how many times can I say that)! Even the mean ones…..just kidding they’re all nice……welllll except for that one lady. Winking smile

5. Mama and belly time! Weston is super active in the morning, late afternoon, and evening. I love lifting my shirt up and just watching him move all around during those times. It’s just the 2 of us. I stop whatever I’m doing and just enjoy the tiny miracle growing inside. It’s special and I want to remember it forever!

6. Visiting the nursery! The walls are painted and all the big furniture pieces are in place. I just need to decorate. It’s been so fun hunting for items to go in his room. We’re going with a vintage theme which of course is right up my alley so I’ve been popping into random antique malls and thrift stores.

Funny/Odd Things That Happened: I had another Incredible Hulk moment. We’re up to 3 so far. Kent says I’ve been my typical self. I cry more often at sad stuff but other than that I haven’t been moody…..until well the Incredible Hulk decides to visit. This time it was over a diaper lot that was up for sale in a Facebook garage sale group. I won the lot then it was taken from me. Long story and a pointless one at that but I flipped! I didn’t say anything ugly or attack the wrong doers but I sure let Kent see me flip out. I have no idea where it comes from or what sets it off but man or oh mighty. When I feel that someone is being rude or has wrongly done something to me I lose it. Then I get mad at myself for letting myself get so mad. It’s a place of anger that I really never let myself go to so when it happens it’s pretty shocking. Let’s hope my Incredible Hulk moments stay at a low!

IMG_6021-web

Clothing: I’ve been having fun dressing up the bump! My faves right now are my Jessica Simpson boyfriend capris. Very comfy and cute! Old Navy tanks dressed up with chunky accessories. Their tanks are nice and thick, fit well, they’re reasonably priced, and they have fun print options.
Clothing In this week’s bump photos: Jessica Simpson boyfriend jean capris (M), Old Navy tank (M), vintage necklace. earrings from Forever 21, and my bracelet was a gift.

Cravings: Nothing too crazy lately but I’ve been digging fruit, oatmeal, and salads. Mmmm love a nice cold salad. Oh also carrot cake and bean and cheese burritos are still thrown in the mix. 2 things I didn’t really eat before but can now eat anytime of the day. It’s so weird.

IMG_6028-editww

Symptoms: Tiredness has come back. It’s that 1st trimester tiredness where you feel like you’ve run 3 marathons back to back. Ugh I’m an always on the go kind of gal so I get a little frustrated when I get held back but I’ve been trying to listen to my body and rest when I can.

Carpal tunnel on my! I’ve been wearing my CP bands which help a lot. Long hours in the office mixed with CP….not tons of fun but it’s manageable. Again it’s just annoying because it slows me down.

I feel like I’ve had a really great pregnancy so far.

Notes to Nugget: Oh my sweet Weston. I just can’t wait to meet you. I’m so excited to see your face and learn all about you and the little man you’ll grow to be. Your dad thinks you’re going to be silly like me. I hope you get some of my silliness but also some of your Dad’s calmness. Silly is all fun and good but it’s a lot to handle! I try to picture what your little face looks like. I have a strong feeling you’re going to have your dad’s nose and lips which would be adorable. I wonder if you’ll have thick spiky hair and big cheeks. Oh I just can’t wait to see! I know the 1st time your dad and I lay eyes on you is going to be such a precious moment. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it.  Our house is starting to fill with all things baby and I imagine laying your down in your bassinet or reading to you in your glider. I will soon be on maternity leave and I can’t wait to start nesting and getting everything all set up for your home coming. It’s all so exciting and feeling more and more real as each week passes by.  We’re already over the moon for you and can’t wait to have our very own family and it all starts with you buddy.

MMMMM fooooood! Not always perfect and I definitely allow more treats and slipups than I did prebaby but still trying to make healthy food choices! These were a few yummy ones from the last week. Oh my goodness the zucchini chicken enchiladas were awesome. I have to give myself a pat on the back for those and in my true fashion I didn’t write down a recipe. Just thought of it and went to town. I’ll be making them again for sure and will write a recipe down for y’all.  I share a lot of my food finds and random meals I throw together on IG if you need a little food inspiration.

Yep I told you they are the best! Some of the treats my clients have recently spoiled me with. One of my clients is a mamma blogger. If you have children or 1 on the way I think you’ll like her blog “Berry Sweet Baby”.

Something Every New Mom Looks Forward to–We Registered

We got up a t the crack of dawn to go to a church garage sale that promised to wow and amaze us

  it soooooo didn’t

Since the garage sale was a huge bust and we were out we decided to use the free time to register for Mr. Weston!

That’s right we’re fly by the seat of our pants kind of people.

Hahah not really I planned weeks and weeks for this moment.

I did my research folks!

1st stop buy buy Baby which is a fitting name cause let me tell ya you buy annnnnnd buy for baby!

20130518_150955

The glider section was Kent’s favorite! He was like Goldie Locks going from chair to chair.

1. We’re not registering for a glider from BBB. They are way over priced! We’re getting our glider at Wally World (Why are gliders so stinking expensive) but still this was Kent’s favorite section.

2. He was very opinionated about gliders again just like Goldie Locks “This one is too small.” “This one is too soft.” no really his words exactly. When I asked if he had plans to breast feed our child in our glider he said “Oooohhhhh noooooo this for my naps!” Bwhahaha he cracks me up!

             20130518_134401  20130518_134416

20130518_150258

Don’t you love the packaging for the Nose Frida!

Baby looking up at mom with adoring eyes like he’s enjoying the whole experience of having his nose sucked out.

I’m quite sure it doesn’t go down this way!

Kent: Ew you have to suck it out! No way I’m not doing that!
Kendra: Great you’ve nixed poop and now this! Okay you take the puke and I’ll do this too.

It’s all about delegating and knowing your strengths and weaknesses folks!

I know when it all comes down to it  and we’re be up to our eyeballs in snot, poo, vomit, and all other types of gross stuff and we’ll be just like the mom on the Nose Frida box looking at our adoring baby!  See the Nose Frida box gives you hope!  Winking smile

20130518_131851edit

As you can see Kent was totally into registering.

Actually he did pretty good the fist 45min then I lost him.

Through most of our hunting he made faces at how unnecessary the items were and how he couldn’t believe what they were charging.

Yes he may be right but we’re not raising a child in the Stone Age as he seems to think.

I’m sure he’ll be happy we have a Nose Frida, a double breast pump (don’t ask), and a Sasha the Giraffe teether when it’s all said and done!

20130518_145308

Weston I’m sorry mommy didn’t get more dressed up or even put on makeup on for this exciting event. When you look back at these photos don’t be ashamed! I promise to look cute for your showers!  Ps…..Doesn’t your Dad’s Mmmmm Baccon shirt rock?

20130518_150517

We decided to register at………

buy buy Baby

and

Amazon

For any soon to be mamas out there that want to be nosey and see what we registered for you can find us by searching Kent and Kendra Huie through the sites registry search.

It’s okay I like to look at other people registries too!  You never know what you may have missed!

??How Did They Add Up??

I give buy buy Baby an: Eh
-It’s served its purpose.
-I liked being able to touch and see the products

BUT

-They didn’t have everything I was hoping to register for.
-Their prices are crazy high on their bigger items.
-Their website is kind of crapy but they won me over with a bag of free samples so I’ll let the website thing pass.

I give Amazon an: AAAAAAmaaaaamzing
-Loved that I could easily read reviews and price match.
-Who doesn’t love being able to work on your registry in your PJs!
-Amazon’s prices are lower than buy buy Baby which is music to a deal hunters ears!
-They have a HUGE selection! There is not one thing that I wanted to add to our registry that they didn’t have…..no really I’m being honest!
-I didn’t have to wait for our turn to look at a product.
-No crying babies or strollers to maneuver around (yes I know I will soon be one of those shoppers).
-They have tons of ways to help you search for items to add to your registry. No need to willy-nilly it around the store looking dazed and confused.
-They have a little section where you can write notes about the items you pick. I thought that was a cute idea!
-Awesome user friendly website

BUT

I like the items we have on our Amazon registry (prices are better, the selection is great) but I’m not so sure that it will get as much use as our buy buy Baby registry.

Having an online registry is great for out of town loved ones that would like to do something for the baby but as we all know most of us buy our shower gift the night before the shower and like to attend with a gift in hand. This is where Buy Buy Baby wins a point over Amazon. I’m sorry Amazon.

How about you?
What’s been your experience with registering?
Did you like where you registered?
Did your hubby get lost in the glider section?

Bump Watch 17 Weeks - Vegas Edition

instaImage_17

How far along: We celebrated our 17th week in Vegas!

What’s the baby up to: Um hello bump! So glad you decided to make an appearance! I swear I got on the plane with a mini bump or fat looking tum to those who saw me and didn’t know I’m preggers and woke up with a cute round bump. I think Kent was just as excited as I was! We couldn’t stop staring it and Kent was so cute rubbing on my belly all week!

On to the baby! The little Mr. is the size of my palm and is putting on body fat.  Umm hello preaching to the choir here brother! He’s hair on his head, eyebrows, and eyelashes is filling in!

Best Moment of the week: Oh gosh I feel like I say this every week but I have tons of them this week! I’ll try to keep it quick

1. Feeling the baby kick! Yes the little nugget is kicking up a storm. I love feeling his little hellos from the inside.

2. Eating a chili cheese hotdog from Pink’s on the Vegas strip. Shhhh don’t judge me! It was freaking good and worth every calorie!

3. Seeing Absinthe. It was awesome! If you’re planning a trip to Vegas I highly recommend it!

4. Taking tons of naps and relaxing the day away. No outside distractions, no emails, just downtime and rest. It was heaven!

5. 1st visit to the pool with the bump in tow

6. Spending tons of time with the hubs! I sure love him.

7. Seeing the bump looking all cute in my tops. I used to hide it when it was fluff mess but now that it’s round and big there’s no hiding it and I love seeing it peek through my tops.

8. This has to be my favorite thing from the week!!!! Seeing Kent’s reaction to the bump. He’s become really protective and worries about us (the baby and his baby mama). Holding my hand up and downstairs or while we cross busy streets. Waking up next to him in the morning as he reaches out to pat my belly. Him laying his head on my tummy and talking to Weston. His sweet comments when he thinks I look cute. Such sweet moments. This is a very special time for us and I’m loving every second of it!

Funny/odd things that happened: MMMK so I’m real clumsy even when I’m not sporting a big round belly. Well we were walking around the Forum Shops and I saw a girl who was scantily clad. It Vegas it’s expected but in the middle of the day in a mall? Well it caught my attention as I was walking down some stairs and I started to tumble. Don’t worry Kent saved the day! I only skated down a few stairs before he caught me. I was super embarrassed but when I looked around no one was even watching! I guess if you’re going to fall down the stairs Vegas is the place to do it! You fit right in with all the drunkies!

Clothing: Kent and I went shopping for maternity pants! We looked at Old Navy, H & M, and Gap. Gap was by far my favorite! I bought a pair of their always skinny jeans with the mini band in dark denim and ordered a mint pair from them as well.  Seriously why did I wait so long? Maternity pants are so comfy! Do/did you have a favorite place to shop for maternity jeans?

I can still wear most of my old tops. They just look a little more snug around the tummy. Thank goodness for the boho flowy style that’s in because I have a few tops that should work throughout most of my pregnancy as well my maxi dresses!

Cravings: SMOOTHIES!!!! I was obsessed with them while we were in Vegas!  By the time I had to have one I was usually in my PJs and way too tired to walk down to the mall to get one. They have a Jamba Juice inside the Planet Hollywood mall in case you’re on a smoothie hunt when you’re in Vegas. Seriously I fantasized about them all week. It had to be an orange, pineapple, mango smoothie though! As soon as we got back to Dallas Kent and I hit up out local Jamba Juice. I talked about them so much Kent started craving them too!

My other craving was healthy food! I tried to make the best choices I could while we were there but we were on a tight budget and the good stuff is expensive! We hit a up a few buffets. I piled my plate with veggies and hoarded apples and oranges in our mini fridge. I could not wait to get home and have better control over what went in my body.

Symptoms: I was crazy tired. I ‘m guessing it’s from the growing bump and all the walking. I also  hit the hotel gym up a few times during our trip so it was the perfect storm for extreme tiredness. Oh and my hips were killing me at night as in hurting so bad I didn’t sleep very well the. Instagram friends all said I need a body pillow so it’s added to the list!

Notes to Nugget: Hi little guy! What a fun week we had sporting you in Vegas! This was your 1st time flying and will probably be the last until after you arrive. I’m so excited to see my tummy grow. It means you’re healthy and growing strong in there. I’m over the moon with your little kicks and nudges! I’m thinking you’re going to be an active boy just like your mama because it seems like you’re awake partying and moving around all day!

We’re getting excited about all the fun stuff coming up: registering for your showers, working on your nursery (I think I have your bedding and room décor all planned out), and taking Grandma to our next sonogram apportionment to see you. It’s all becoming very real!
