Tour Around Historic Swiss Avenue

The Swiss Avenue Historic District in Dallas Texas includes nearly 200 restored homes dating from the early 20th century. I thought you might like to take a leisurely walk down Swiss Avenue as well so I brought my trusty camera along. I have quite a few pictures to share so grab a cold glass of southern sweet tea and settle in for the tour.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The street is lined with white picket fences that really
add to feel of the neighborhood.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I was in love with this quaint blue home! It was my 1st favorite. I say first because every time we walked to a new home I would say “Oh no, no, THIS one if my favorite!”. They were all so different and beautiful in their own way.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Not only were the homes beautiful the surrounding trees were amazing as well! I’m sure my family got tired of hearing me talk about how pretty the trees were.
Ah, they were just breath taking!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Just another sign that Spring is right around the corner! We had such a wonderful afternoon. If you live in the area I would highly recommend taking a little stroll around Swiss Avenue. They have a dog park as well as a people park ;o) right in the middle of the square so it would also be fun to take a little picnic. I will definitely be going back soon!

  7. What a gorgeous area! I've been to Dallas lots of times, but have never heard of Swiss Avenue. Will definitely add it to my must see list. The homes are beautiful, but my first reaction was a big sigh at the trees. Wonderful photos. Kathy

  8. Thanks for stopping by at Sahm I Am! I love having new visitors.

Looks like you and I are neighbors! I am new to TX (moved here nearly five years ago from Los Angeles), but I love it here.

You photos are just beautiful! You have a great eye!

  9. This is the kind of street you live on in your childhood dreams. Ma & Pa are sitting on a porch swing at dusk, sipping lemonade and listening to Nat King Cole records. You and your siblings are chasing your dog Frisky around the front yard while Grandma is inside the kitchen baking an apple pie for dessert. The smell of honeysuckle is in the air when suddenly you look up and the handsome boy next door comes to the fence to hand you your newspaper that accidently landed in his yard. Years later, you marry the boy next door, purchase your childhood home from your parents and sit on the porch at dusk, watching your children play with their dog named Frisky.

This is the type of story that comes to mind while looking at the pictures of this magical neighborhood. Thanks for posting.

  10. I have not been to Dallas in years. What a lovely tour! Great pictures of the houses and the trees! I used to love to visit Jefferson, Texas and once went on a tour of the fabulous homes in that area.
