Practicing My NEW Sewing Skills

Kent’s mom (who is an amazing seamstress) is giving me a few basic sewing lessons. Let me pre warn you that I am just learning and cannot sew a straight line to save my life!

We have banned the dogs from sleeping in our bed which has been a pretty easy transition. Just a few nights of hearing them whining and scratching to get on the bed and they are now fully sleeping on the floor. I wanted to throw the in towel the second night but Kent pushed on and by the third night they were fine. I just felt bad and missed cuddling with them but am now happy to be able to move around freely without them laying on top of me. Now that they are no longer sleeping on the bed with us I wanted to make them a little more comfy while they sleep on the floor…..enter my FIRST sewing project!

Friendly fabric for people like me who can not sew

I thought Parker could use a little pillow to spruce up his couch.

Look like he agrees!

Shhh someone is sleeeeping

I made him a little scarf too. He needs it in this 100 degree weather….NOT! But he sure does look cute!

Kent thought it was sooo funny that I sewed a little line around Abby's blanket. He knew I was just trying to find something to use the sewing machine on. He was right! It’s a no sew fabric but I thought it would be cute to add a funky little pink stitch above the fringe and it gave me a chance to practice sewing a straight line….I didn’t do so hot but I dont think Abby will mind.

It’s a winner! She loves cuddling under it.

Abby needs a little pillow and a scarf too!

  1. Good for you! Think of all the things you'll be able to create once you get a little more experience. Your fur babies are too adorable!

  5. Girl I can't sew a straight line either! Been there tried that in Home Ec back in high school! The dogs probably forgive ya'll for booting them from the bed with all of the cool gifts they're getting now!
