You Never Know what you’ll Find at Goodwill

I walked into Goodwill last week and was immediately greeted by these lovely wedding dresses. Their not your run of the mill Goodwill 80's style dresses. Yes they need to be dry cleaned and are full of wrinkles but they are beautiful. I automatically started thinking....who do I know that needs a wedding dress? I already have my dress but thought humm maybe I could purchase one of these for my trash the dress photo shoot! Boo.....they didn't have my size so I decided to take pictures to share with you guys.
Goodwill is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.......and that's why I love it!

This was my favorite out of the bunch, simple and elegant.
Here's a shot of the back, just needs to be dry cleaned and it's good as new!

I loved this one too.

It has just the right amount of glitz!

I loved the bead work on this gal. It has a really long beaded train train but I didn't get a picture of it.

Wouldn't this be a beautiful bridesmaid dress for a summer wedding?

This picture does not do this bridesmaid dress justice. It was so beautiful. I automatically thought beach wedding when I saw this and what do ya know......we're having a beach wedding! We decided no to have a wedding party though so I'll leave this little beauty for someone else.

Here's the best part, all these dresses were between $30.00 to $80.00 and they still have the tags on them. They had a ton of dresses, wedding dresses, flower girl dresses, mother of the bride dresses, and bridesmaid dresses but people were starting to stare at me so I only took pictures of a few. I'm wondering if a wedding salon closed and donated their dresses to Goodwill; not sure but either way they are going to make a few brides very happy :0)

  1. We could stock Goodwill in bridesmaids dresses--you know the ones when the bride says, "I'm sure you can wear this again"--yeah, right :)

  3. I am a goodwill whore myself-- it's my dirtiest, stinkiest favorite pastime of mine.

    Beautiful dresses!

  4. I love going to the Goodwill too. I just picked up a bunch of fabric samples that must have been donated by a fabric store or decorator. All very expensive fabrics for $1-$3.

Dropping in from SITS. I enjoyed scanning your blog.

  5. Those are gorgeous! You so should start a business Kendra. Buy things at Good Will and re-sell on Ebay/Craigs List. Have you thought of that?

  6. What was the purpose of buying the wedding gowns if you already had yours? Did I miss something? Can you fit into some of the other evening gowns? How much does the dry cleaning cost for gowns like that in your area? I think Jewels had a great idea. It's all in the know how..wish I knew how!

  7. Hey Betty,

I wanted to reply to your comment but for some reason I’m not able to click on your profile so I thought I would just answer here (not sure if you’ll see this).

I do already have a dress and was slightly considering buying for my “trash the dress” photo session. We are getting married on the beach in Mexico and I thought it would be fun to take a few pictures the day after the ceremony in the water (in a dress). If you type trash the dress pictures in Google you’ll find tons of examples (incase I’m not making any sense).
I’m not really sure how much it would cost to get dry cleaned. I wouldn’t imagine that it would all add up to be less than what some of those dresses would have cost an actually bridal store but I could be completely wrong.

I thought about buying a few and posting them on eBay but starting worrying about what I would do with them if they didn’t sale. I would have been out the money and have nowhere to store them. I decided to leave them be. They still have a few left but hopefully the others went home with a bride who is in a little financial stress and could not afford a dress of that caliber other wise.
